Hand Drawn Wedding Invitations & Stationery August 26, 2014

Being an artist at heart, I have been so eager to have the opportunity to get down to the basics and draw (I’m talking real paper and pencil). This past wedding season allowed me to take a step out of the digital word a bit and let me create things with my hands. I am absolutely in love with the process of sketching, erasing, sketching some more, then scanning it into a digital file to fine tune the details. The personal touch it adds to each piece puts a big smile on my face.

The first invitation suite I designed centered around the old school VW camper vans. For the free-spirit at heart, this was right up my alley. Fun, simple and stylish all at the same time. And I just love the little note included on the bottom of each program that reads:

“We want you to be able to relax and have fun with us today! This in mind, we invite you to put down all your favorite devices and just be present in the moment with us. (We’ve got photography covered) We’re happy to share our professional wedding photos later, but the greatest gift you can give us today is just being fully here with us in this sacred and special moment. Thanks for staying unplugged!”

I think I’m going to include this on every program from now on (especially from a photographer’s perspective;)!

You might recognize this bright, colorful and geometric invitation suite from the latest issue of Wisconsin Bride Magazine. Once again, a simple design, but so much fun and non-traditional. For the couple that likes to think outside the box and knows how to throw a kick-ass party! Who wouldn’t like to toss confetti at the bride and groom as they walk down the aisle?

Lastly, was a camp inspired weekend “wedding field guide” for an adorable couple at Camp Wandawega. I could go on and on about all the lovely details that this camp offers as inspiration, but I’ll save that for our post to come of the actual wedding day that we had SO much fun photographing. Trust me you’re going to want to check back to see the amazing day we got to share with Emily & Shawn!
